Versatiles Puzzle Bonus Assignment
Here is an optional bonus assignment for any Bio40S pre-AP students who are interested.
1) You will be given a solution key for a Versatiles Puzzle. Each number represents one of the 12 tiles. When placed in the correct location in the Versatiles rack and then flipped over, the coloured pattern will result.
2) Prepare an original Versatiles puzzle on an 11” x 8½” piece of white paper. The questions in your puzzle should be based on one the assigned sets of pages from the textbook. (See Dr. C. about this.) Use the solution key that you have been given. Include the answer key (only the coloured pattern, not the numbers) on your puzzle sheet.
Marking:
The Versatiles puzzle will be worth a
maximum of 10 marks. If the mark you earn on your Versatiles puzzle is higher than your mark on one of your biology quizzes this year, then this mark will replace your mark on this quiz.
You must hand in a draft copy of your puzzle before preparing a final copy.Your Versatiles puzzle will be marked based on the following criteria:
a) Does the puzzle have a name? (choose a catchy title that fits with the theme of your questions
b) Is the puzzle attractive? (neat, colourful…)
c) Are the questions good?
d) Is there an answer key?
Be sure to include your name on the back of your Versatiles puzzle.
Due Date for handing in draft: May 4, 2009
Due Date for handing in finished project: May 11, 2009 (Monday)
Projects will not be accepted after this date.
